A Christian soldier asks, “Is it ever okay to kill?”

Many people quote the Bible as saying, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13, KJV). But if this is taken at face value, then no Christian military member should enter into armed combat, no Christian police officer should carry a gun, and no believer should use deadly force to defend himself or his family.

But is that what the word kill here really means? Or is there more to it than that?
