Revelation 4:9-10a – And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever.
Imagine a wedding day – the groom is standing at the altar alongside the minister, bridesmaids, and groomsmen and everyone rises to their feet for the bride’s entry…now picture the groom’s face.
What if you had to tell him to be excited when the doors open, and he sees his bride for the first time in her wedding dress and in all her glory? I’d say she should probably be marrying a different guy.
When we see someone in glory, we should want to passionately respond. Most likely, because he loves his bride, the guy is going to be bawling his eyes out internally while trying to keep his cool externally. This is not so dissimilar to how we should react when we worship God in all His glory. We shouldn’t be forced or have to be told to react passionately; we should want to praise Him with our entire being because of our great love for Him and all He’s done for us.
If you’re married, think back to your wedding day and the excitement that you had and think about how we should, even more so, react in excitement to our God. If you’re not married, think about how much you can be at least as excited about God as you are to meet and marry your future spouse.
