Are You Looking at Jesus or Your Problems?

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”Hebrews 12:2–3

When you’re tired, your eyes tell the truth. Spiritually, it’s no different. Where you fix your focus determines whether you keep going or give up. Hebrews 12 doesn’t point us to our problems or even our own strength—it points us to Jesus. He’s not just the one who started your faith; He’s the one who will see it through. He endured the cross, faced shame, and didn’t flinch. If He went through all that for you, then you can keep going today with Him.

Scripture puts it this way: “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith… Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted” (Hebrews 12:2–3). That’s how you stay strong—not by forcing it in your flesh, but by fixing your faith where it belongs. When Jesus is your focus, you find the strength you don’t have on your own. You stop running on fumes and start running on grace.

To look to Jesus means to make Him your reference point in everything. You remember His pain when you feel yours. You remember His endurance when you’re tempted to quit. You remember His throne when the world feels out of control. He’s not just your Savior—He’s your example, your anchor, your King. When your focus shifts from the chaos around you to the Christ above you, your steps get stronger and your heart gets steadier.

Life throws punches. People disappoint. Your own heart wants to quit. But Jesus never did—and He’s not about to start now. When you feel like falling behind, remember who’s out front leading the way.

The road gets long. The fight gets fierce. But when your eyes are on Jesus, you remember who you’re running for—and why it’s worth every step. He faced the worst and never quit. So don’t tap out. Don’t look around. Don’t look back. Lock in on Him and keep going. That’s how you outlast weariness and finish your race with fire.

What’s one way you can fix your eyes on Jesus today instead of the distractions around you?
