Do You Always Put Yourself First?

“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” – Hebrews 1:3

This week, we’re diving into five powerful lessons on how the Holy Spirit renews our minds and redirects our thinking.

Lesson 1: Starts with Jesus

In a world that constantly tells us to look inward to find our identity, Hebrews calls us to do the exact opposite—start with Jesus. Before we can truly understand who we are, we must first know who He is. Everything in life—our thoughts, choices, and direction—must be built on the unshakable foundation of Christ. Otherwise, everything crumbles.

Hebrews 1 opens with a jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, mind-melting summary of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Unlike Hebrews, everything from modern education to mental health treatment begins by focusing on you as an individual, rather than Jesus Christ, as the first and highest priority.

Before we can even understand who we are, since Jesus is the perfect example of what we should be like and the Savior of sinners, we need to believe who He is. Like Hebrews, our understanding of everyone and everything must begin with Jesus Christ.

Jesus is at the center of everything. Your identity, purpose, and future all hinge on what you believe about Him.

Do you truly believe in who Jesus is? Is your life built on knowing Him and pursuing a real relationship with Him? Set your foundation on Jesus, and everything else will fall into place.
