“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” — Colossians 3:2

The mind is where our thoughts, beliefs, and decisions are formed. It’s the battleground where truth and lies, faith and doubt, and peace and anxiety often clash. As parents, our minds are constantly filled with decisions, worries, plans, and the everyday demands of life. Yet, God calls us to set our minds on things above. This means fixing our thoughts on His truths rather than being consumed by the worries of this world.

What thoughts dominate your mind as a parent? Are they filled with fear, doubt, or guilt? Or are they filled with faith, hope, and love? To love God with all our mind is to take every thought captive to Christ and renew our minds daily with His Word. Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” How do we renew our minds? By immersing ourselves in God’s Word, meditating on His promises, and rejecting the lies that the Enemy tries to plant.

Reflect on what you’ve been feeding your mind lately. Are you consuming content that glorifies God or things that draw you away from Him? The mind is like a garden—whatever you plant will grow. Are you planting seeds of truth, or are you allowing weeds of doubt and fear to take root? Consider the power of a parent’s thoughts. Your perspective shapes your children’s worldview. When they hear you speak words of faith, hope, and love, they learn to think and speak the same way. How can you model godly thinking for your children today?

Loving God with all your mind means choosing faith over fear. It means believing that God is bigger than your biggest worry and stronger than your strongest doubt. It means trusting in His promises, even when circumstances seem bleak. Let’s commit today to filling our minds with God’s truth.

Open your Bible and find a verse that speaks directly to your current worries or fears. Write it down, memorize it, and speak it over your life whenever doubt creeps in.
