“Jesus began to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” – Matthew 4:17
I want to end this devotional series with a challenge to you men. I want to challenge you to seek out repentance and be a Spirit-filled man. The gospel of Jesus Christ is about the repentance of sin. The counterfeit message of demonism is tolerance, which remains the primary message being preached by the world today. Behind the message of tolerance are the same demons working for the Jezebel Spirit. In Revelation 2:20, Jesus says to a progressive and tolerant church, who were perhaps flying a rainbow flag approved by a transgender bishop, “But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality…” I have said this before: God made us male and female in His image, and demons want to remake us in their image and likeness – transgender, living on a gender spectrum, and having perverted sex lives.
The Jezebel Spirit is always at work in the Church, politics, and culture, seeking to hold positions of power to put forth false teaching and encouraging gender confusion and sexual sin, as was the case in the days of Elijah and later in the church at Thyatira (Revelation 2:20-21). The Church needs leaders like Elijah who will stand up against the Jezebel Spirit to preserve the purity of God’s people by calling them to be repenting of what they had previously been tolerating.
The key to Christian masculinity is to study the life of Jesus and learn what it means to act like a man. In a book I wrote called Spirit-Filled Jesus, I write that Jesus’ emotions are mentioned some 60 times in the four gospels. The Bible says Jesus had humor, marveled, grieved, loved, rejoiced, and was sorrowful, troubled, distressed, sad, angry, and glad. Jesus had the full range of emotions, and He demonstrated them in a masculine way. Most unhealthy men think there are feminine and masculine emotions. This would mean women say they’re sorry, not men; women cry, not men; women are affectionate, men are not. This isn’t true. Men and women both bear the image and likeness of God and have the same emotions; they’re just expressed in masculine and feminine ways.
Jesus is perfect, and He experienced the full range of emotions. The shortest verse in the whole Bible is “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35) To be a Spirit-filled man is to emulate Jesus and all the emotions He expressed. I challenge you to be strong and tender, loving towards your family, and tough with a world that is trying to bring the culture of Hell up into their lives.
Our Heavenly Father will bless you and help you if you are doing what He is asking! I love you! I’m excited for you! I’m praying for you! I’m proud of you! You matter to your Father, and you matter to me! Thank you for the honor of being invited into your life!
Is there anything that you need to repent of?
