1 Peter 1:23-2:3 – …you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”…Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
We’ve all heard advertising make bold claims for a product that does not live up to the hype. Peter makes the bold claim that God’s Word will endure forever and is the greatest source of nutritional health for the human soul, custom designed by God for your well-being.
In an effort to see the impact of Bible reading, the ministry “Back to the Bible” had 400,000 people surveyed. Their findings were quite astonishing. For those people who read the Bible three times or less a week, the life changes were minimal. Everything changes, however, when someone reads God’s Word four or more times a week. As soon as God’s Word becomes a part of the majority of your week here’s what happens:
- 407% more likely to memorize Scripture
- 228% more likely to share faith with others
- 59% less likely to view pornography
- 30% less likely to struggle with loneliness
Also markedly lower are such things as having sex outside of marriage, gambling, and getting drunk among others. You can read the entire report here: https://www.backtothebible.org/research.
Better yet, you can start reading the Bible four or more times a week for yourself and see it change your life. God’s Word is alive, and changes lives! God’s Word is the only book you read, that also reads you! God’s Word is the only book that you can meet with the author (Holy Spirit) as you read it and ask for answers to your questions!
Are you in the Bible, and getting the Bible into you, at least four days a week?
