Who is Shaping Your Thoughts—Christ or Culture?

“Put onsalvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6:17 (NLT)

Every battle starts in the mind. The Helmet of Salvation protects your thoughts, your focus, and your identity, because the war for your life starts with how you think.

Salvation isn’t just a past event—it’s your daily armor. When you wake up and remember what Jesus saved you from and what He saved you for, it shapes everything: what you say, how you think, and how you live.

The world throws lies at you all day: “Do what feels right,” “Truth is relative,” “You need to love yourself first.” But the Helmet of Salvation keeps your mind rooted in what’s real. You’re forgiven. You’re loved. You’re not who you used to be. You’re not what culture says—you’re who Christ says.

Romans 12:2 puts it bluntly: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
You can’t live transformed if your thinking is still worldly.

What you put into your mind shapes your life. If you’re feeding your mind trash—music, media, voices that don’t align with God—you’re weakening your armor. The Enemy wants to wear you down slowly until you forget who you are in Christ. That’s why salvation isn’t something you just “have”—it’s something you wear. It guards your thoughts and renews your mind.

Salvation means you’ve been rescued from Hell, sin, wrath, and death. But it also means you’ve been set apart to live differently—like you belong to Heaven, not just Earth.

God’s love for us is the most powerful thing because He died for us! Salvation guards and renews our minds like a helmet as we stand firm in God’s love for us! We will only experience the benefits of salvation if we use them.

Let’s not just say we are saved—let’s LIVE SAVED!

What’s one way you can guard your mind this week with the truth of your salvation?

In celebration of Mother’s Day, this week’s devos are based on Grace Driscoll & Ashley Chase’s new book “Warrior Woman,” releasing in June.
