The disciples even ask!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Diagnostic test for where to start, how to grow: think about how often your prayers fit into<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">each of these categories: more or less of which when you feel stuck<\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><strong><span class=\"s2\">\u201cOur Father in heaven\u201d: Adoration<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Our (collective and personal relationship with Father), introvert\/extrovert<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">In heaven: reminding us of our place, take God seriously<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Example: going to quiet, faraway places to pray (driving in Williams, Costa Rica)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Do you pray prayers of adoration that are about God, not you?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0 \u00a02. <strong>\u201cHallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.\u201d: Worship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">His holy, perfect will that we submit to<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Won\u2019t grant prayers outside of His will<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Example: Scripture memorization about heaven (Holy Spirit spreadsheet), painting, watching for answers (not the news)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Do you pray prayers of worship?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0 \u00a03<\/span><strong><span class=\"s2\">. \u201cGive us this day our daily bread.\u201d: Provision<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Daily, not greedy (manna)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Trust him to provide every day (in the good AND bad; stewardship; meals)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Example: start every morning in prayer, when I first got a job tithing (not my money anyways), fasting<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Do you pray prayers of provision, recognizing that what you have is a gift?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0 \u00a04<strong>. \u201cForgive us our debts.\u201d: Confession<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">We must repent first and recognize our debt to God to close the gap that sin creates between us<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Example: feel this in marriage, weeds out hypocrisy, hate to be wrong\/apologize, give in; didn\u2019t understand repentance fully until about 3 months before dating Landon<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Do you pray prayers of confession?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>\u201cAs we also have forgiven our debtors.\u201d: Intercession<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0 \u00a0 6.<strong> \u201cLead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.\u201d: Protection<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Notice it doesn\u2019t say \u201cGod rescue me from the problems I made for myself\u201d\u2026he does that but he\u2019d rather help you avoid them; temptation isn\u2019t a sin, but prayer is what keeps us out of evil (snatch out)\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s5\">No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.\u00a0God is faithful, and\u00a0he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Cor 10:13<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Example: people, places, media you consume all include temptation; just avoid it; ask for help; surrounded by sin, but don\u2019t let it in you<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Do you pray prayers of protection?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Questions (page 18)<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Do you truly believe you are forgiven? Is there anyone you need to forgive?<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">What aspects of this prayer do you currently practice? In which areas can you grow? How can the group pray to support you practically?<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Repent of any religion or hypocrisy in your heart and ask the Father to show you how you are loved as His son or daughter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every girl can relate to struggling with prayer based on lack of knowing where to start.
