Are You a Woke “Christian”?

Jude 4 – For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Today, the term “woke” generally refers to a counterfeit of being born again. To be “woke” purportedly means to be awakened to new perspectives on what is true and false, right and wrong, moral and immoral.

Cultural progressives pushing a woke agenda seek to celebrate Pride month as an advancement in gender and sexuality beyond what they would consider repressive traditional male-female sexuality solely within heterosexual marriage, rebel against authority (e.g. God, the Bible, parents, teachers, police officers, etc.), and often profess to be spiritual, if not even a new kind of enlightened Christian marked by tolerance rather than repentance of sin, and love for everything including what God hates.

Some Christians are positive people and have a difficult time saying negative things. Jude is not one of those people.

Jude is blistering in his negative critique of false believers who have invaded the church and were encouraging beliefs and behaviors that were against God’s Word. Bold, organized, arrogant, and rebellious towards authority, these people threatened the very existence of true Christianity.

To show that every generation of true believers has false believers that need to be exposed and rejected, Jude uses multiple negative examples, which we’ll look at more tomorrow, in what might seem like the most negative book of the New Testament.

What in Jude’s warning is most haunting and concerning as you look at the state of the world, local churches, and most importantly, yourself?
