Throughout Judges, the sexual temptation from surrounding nations is a demonic stronghold that seduces God’s people. In my book, New Days, Old Demons, I explain how people live and die but the demons remain the same. Baal was believed to be the senior male demon, the archenemy of God, worshiped for wealth, power, success and status, mentioned over a hundred times because this demon was a constant problem.
In Judges, Baal is also often mentioned as working with Ashtaroh, or Asherah (Judges 2:13, 3:7, 6:25-6:30, 10:6). This demon appeared as a female and the goddess of fertility and sex. Also known as Venus, she was the highest-ranking Canaanite demonic goddess and considered the passionate lover of Baal. The worship of Baal and Ashtaroh included sex without any limits, pleasure, and indulgence of every kind, and even child sacrifice. Ancient artwork devoted to her was incredibly pornographic, as she was the demon goddess of the porn industry. These demons were also transgender, and they transgressed all God-given sexual boundaries.
Human beings are engendered, with male or female bodies. Unlike human beings, demonic beings are not engendered, as they do not have a physical body. Thus, a demon is technically gender-fluid on a gender and sexual spectrum, able to appear as male or female as desired. When demons are sexually involved with humans, they encourage people to be made in their image and likeness as nonbinary, rather than living out their male and female gender and sexuality roles as prescribed by God when He made them in His image and likeness. Again, what God creates, Satan counterfeits, and this is true throughout Judges with counterfeit sexuality and spirituality.
