If you’re smoking weed right now, you’re not allowed to comment on what I’m about to say.
Every pot smoker I’ve ever met only knows two verses – Genesis 1:29 which says every seed-bearing plant that the Lord God gave is good, and Luke 6:37, “Do not judge”.
Smoking weed is not necessarily a sin, because the Bible does not forbid it. But just because it may or may not be sinful doesn’t make it wise. There are many things that won’t get you arrested or brought under church discipline, but they’re just not wise. Some things are sinful, other things are stupid. Smoking weed, playing video games all day, and drinking Bud Light from a sippy cup while living in your mom’s basement may or may not sinful, but it clearly is stupid.
Those who self-medicate with drugs, alcohol, or other things often thwart maturity as they attempt to escape tough seasons of life rather than face them. This oftentimes makes them biologically older than they act. The day you stop pressing through hard times is the day you stop growing, learning, and maturing. This fact explains why we have a fool’s parade of 20-year-old “boys who shave” mooching off their mom hoping to meet a nice girl with a good job and low expectations so they can upgrade from mom with snacks to girlfriend with benefits.
Marijuana is part of God’s creation, and some people do use it for medicinal purposes including legitimate physical pain or for medical treatment. But just putting it in brownies, watching “Cheech and Chong”, trying to live out “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, and just spending your government stimulus check on getting stimulated is a bad idea. It’s just foolish. Just say no to drugs. And, while you’re at it, just say no to politicians who send you free money to buy drugs.
