Spirit-Filled Men Fight Temptation

Brain the ventral pallidum = center pleasure/pain

  • Men chase pleasure, & flee pain

-Pleasure – triggers dopamine, we become numb to the pleasure = increase pleasure

-Pain – the more pleasure we experience, we weaken & have less pain tolerance

=Addiction cycle

Fruit of Spirit = self-control (Gal. 5:23)

Most of culture – entertainment & biz – take your money & get you addicted

Some people, especially black widow women, are used by Satan to bring pleasure/pain

Hebrew 4:15–16 “We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and grace to help in time of need.”

  1. Temptation is not a sin

Luke 4:1-2 And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.

1.    Temptation often comes after great success (just baptized & commissioned)

2.    The Holy Spirit leads you into a spiritual war to strengthen & prepare you for future battles

3.    Jesus is isolated, no one will see him/know

4.    Limits humanity “…dangers include dehydration, significant weight loss, hypoglycemia (low blood glucose), increased ketogenesis (which cause cause an increase in acid buildup in the blood), hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood), and hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid in the blood).”

Some have died trying a 40 day fast

Jesus, full of the HS” =Anointing HS flow on you, in you, through you in power

Symbol – oil that flows down – leads to a “flow” in the Spirit

Christ the man – “anointed one”; Lk. 4:18 “the Spirit is upon me…he has anointed me”

Luke 4:3-4 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

Adam failed & ate w/Satan

  1. God & Satan want a personal relationship w/you
  2. Sin not always what you do, but who you follow
  3. Remember whose you are & (Luke 3 “my son”)
  4. You have no-one to prove

Luke 4:5-7 And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”

Worship is not just what you sing w/your mouth, but what you do w/your body

Jesus is a man (never been drunk, high, w/woman)

Luke 4:8-13 And Jesus answered him, “It is written,“ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’” And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.

  1. Satan knows the Bible, & misquotes it (Psalm 91:11-12)
  2. Bible is a weapon (Eph & Heb Sword)
  3. Jesus quotes correctly Deut from memory
  4. The Bible got the last Word

If Jesus got tempted, you will get tempted

If you study the Bible, you will have your answers when it’s time to take your test

Luke 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit…was led by the Spirit in the wilderness

Luke 4:14 Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

  1. If you fail your test, you will need to retake your test
  2. If you pass your temptation test, God will increase your anointing
  3. There is fresh/new anointing for seasons/needs/temptations
